About The Tile Doctor
The Tile Doctor-Paul Wilson grew up in La Habra, California. After college, I spent three years in the U.S. Army. I then headed into police work, where I served for 18 years before retiring from the force. During that time, My interest in tile led me to also become a licensed California tile contractor. My traditional approach to the installation of stone and ceramic tile on floors, tub surrounds, showers, countertops, fireplaces, exterior building facades, and many sometimes unique projects bred many loyal customers.
In addition to being The Tile Doctor in charge of research and development, I am also a certified ceramic tile consultant and write the content on The Tile Doctor website and co-authored the curriculum for the University of Tile and Stone. I hold the honorary position as the assistant director for the Ceramic Tile Institute of America in Culver City, CA. My duties there include teaching, conducting ceramic and stone tile inspections, and writing specifications. When I am not working, I enjoy golf, hunting, fishing, riding ATV's, mountain and road cycling, and mountain hiking.
I have appeared as the host of a DIY series "Tiling Techniques" and other television shows as an expert in ceramic and stone tile installations. I also host the Tile Doctor DVD series with co-host HGTV star Jodie Marks.
