Mortar Bed Tub Surround

Ceramic Tile Installation
In my opinion, the mortar bed is still the best method for installing tile in showers and tub surrounds. In this older photo series, I install tumbled travertine in a home near Atlanta, GA. This is a one coat method over water resistant gypsum board. When not using the board, the installer would add a scratch coat prior to the brown coat. Check out the text and pictures here:
